We understand selecting the right skilled nursing facility has never been more important for patients, physicians, and discharge planners.  Our specialized treatment programs offer the medical technology, evidence based protocols and advanced therapist training necessary to help improve outcomes and return patient to the community.  We offer excellent rehabilitation services, and are the only facility in our community or surrounding communities that offers ACP (Accelerated Care Plus).

Rehabilitation Services

ACP (Accelerated Care Plus) has been used successfully for many years to decrease pain, inflammation and edema associated with a broad range of prevalent conditions.  This medical technology enables our therapist to treat more complex conditions.   ACP modalities are supported by evidence based clinical programs, approved therapist training, and on going support by licensed clinicians.

Following illness or injury, therapy is the best way to regain as much strength and function as possible. We have partnered with Indiana Fitness Works, Inc. and other providers to ensure quality rehabilitation services. Meet Helen

Helen was born in Carver, Kentucky.  Her family moved to Starke County, Indiana in 1941. Helen is the oldest of 10 siblings, seven brothers and three sisters.  Helen has spent the majority of her life serving others in the Starke County area.  In 1972, she and her husband purchased a restaurant, where she was head chef and chief bottle washer.  Helen also owned and operated a Teen Club in Knox.  Her idea behind the Teen Club was to promote activity for adolescents in the area.  Opened 7 days a week, kids were invited to meet and mingle.  Live band dances were held every Friday and Saturday night.

In 1980, Helen had the call to help once again.  This time she enrolled in CNA classes.  She began her career at Countryside and in November 1984 she joined the team at Wintersong Village.  At that time Wintersong Village had ten residents and Helen’s pay rate was $3.75 an hour.  Helen enjoyed her position as a CNA.  She loved the residents and according to Helen “the resident’s become part of my family”.  Helen was employed at Wintersong Village until the fall of 2000, when she accepted a position at another facility.

Helen retired in 2005, during her retirement she enjoyed spending times with family and friends.  In late 2005, Helen experienced some health problems and was admitted to Catherine Kasper Life Care Center for rehabilitation.  After returning home, Helen enjoyed living with family, but in 2010 she realized that her family could no longer care for her.  In early 2010, Helen became a resident at Wintersong Village.  Helen states “I wouldn’t go anywhere else”.

Helen enjoys being a patient at Wintersong Village.  She continues to feel as if all are her family.  She currently serves as the Resident Council President, and always has a watchful eye ensuring every patient is taken care of.

Helen has two daughters, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.  They enjoy coming to visit Grandma on a weekly basis.
